Here are the most accepted forms of proof:

✅ Accepted Proofs of Student Status in Leuven

1. Student Card (Studentenkaart)
   Issued by the university or college. It includes:
   • Student name
   • Student number
   • Valid academic year
   • University logo (e.g., KU Leuven)
     
2. Certificate of Enrollment (Inschrijvingsbewijs / Attest van Inschrijving)
   This is a formal document from the university confirming that you’re enrolled for the current or upcoming academic year. You can typically download this from your student portal.
   
3. Recent Tuition Fee Payment Receipt
   Especially when combined with ID and other documents, this shows you’re an active student.
   
4. Letter of Admission (Toelatingsbrief) (for new or incoming students)

✅ If you already study in Belgium:

✅ If you are not yet enrolled in Belgium (e.g. international student):

You can temporarily submit:

• A proof of student status from your home country, such as:
  • Current university student card
  • Recent certificate of enrollment

🕐 Important – Tenants Responsibility:
As soon as you receive your official enrollment confirmation or student card from your Belgian school or university, it is the tenants personal responsibility to send it spontaneously and without delay to their landlord, as the landlord himself does not get dthis information directly.

Failing to provide this in time may result in:

• A change in your rental status
• Loss of eligibility for the city tax reduction, and thus additional charges from the city of Leuven
