🗑️ IMORTANT NEWSFLASH – Waste Sorting and Disposal: Please Help Keep the Building Clean
Dear tenants,
During my last two visits to the building, I unfortunately found several cases of incorrectly disposed waste. On two occasions, there was also a trail of leaking waste and dirt covering the full ground floor and leading up to the first and second floors. This also resulted in complaints from co-owners in the building.
This is unpleasant for everyone and causes unnecessary inconvenience. It brings a bad image to our building and fellow residents.
Why is this important?
Incorrectly disposed waste can lead to:
- Unpleasant smells, especially during warm weather;
- Dirty common areas and stains on the floors;
- Attraction of insects and other pests;
- Waste spreading through the building;
- Complaints from fellow residents and co-owners;
- Additional cleaning and management costs;
- Possible GAS fines imposed by the city for incorrect waste disposal.
Please remember the waste rules
The waste sorting and collection rules can always be found:
- On the information sheet attached to the inside of your studio door; or download teh instruction sheet here
- In the house rules;
- On our website.
New tenants: please take a few minutes to read the garbage instructions carefully. Waste collection in Belgium may be different from your home country, and making sure you know the rules from the beginning helps avoid problems for everyone.
Existing tenants: this is a friendly reminder to continue following the rules carefully, even during busy periods, arrivals, departures or exam periods.
A few important reminders
- Use the correct official waste bags only.
- Never leave waste in the common areas, hallways or staircases.
- Put your waste outside only on the correct collection day only.
- Make sure bags are properly closed and not leaking.
- If you are leaving the studio and still have waste, please follow the departure instructions or contact us for advice.
Accidents can happen – please ACT IMMEDIATELY
We understand that sometimes a waste bag may leak, tear or accidentally leave dirt in the common areas. Accidents can happen, and we do not expect perfection.
However, if this happens, it is your responsibility to clean it up immediately, even if you are in a hurry or have limited time. Please do not leave the mess for other residents, the cleaner, or the next person passing by.
If, for any reason, you are unable to clean it yourself, please contact us immediately. We can arrange for a cleaner to take care of it, but we need to be informed as soon as possible so the problem can be solved before it causes smells, stains, complaints or attracts pests.
