Respect for silent hours, a basic condition of shared living

As we understand you are all excited about your exchange or study adventure in Leuven, to ensure a pleasant and respectful living environment for everyone, we would also like to remind you of the silent hours that apply in this student housing building.

Living together means acknowledging that not everyone has the same schedule. Some tenants start early for work, others study late, and rest is essential for everyone.

🔕 Silent hours – mandatory for all

In accordance with the house rules, silent hours apply every day:

  • From 22:00 until 07:00
  • During these hours, the building must remain quiet.

This includes (non-exhaustive):

  • Loud conversations or singing
  • Music without headphones
  • Sudden loud noises, laughter, or repeated disturbance
  • Any avoidable noise audible in neighbouring rooms or common areas

Please be aware that sound travels easily in shared buildings, even when you may feel you are “not being that loud”

🎧 Music, calls & social moments

  • Use headphones for music, videos, gaming, or online calls.
  • Musical instruments are only allowed with headphones.
  • Parties or gatherings are not permitted in rooms or common areas
  • For socialising, chatting, celebrating or relaxing together, there are plenty of suitable nearby options (bars, cafés, tearooms, restaurants and, in good weather, public parks), allowing everyone to enjoy themselves without disturbing others.

🤝 If noise issues arise

We also remind tenants of the correct way to handle noise-related situations:

  1. Mutual communication first
If you feel comfortable, politely inform your neighbour. Many disturbances are unintentional.
  2. If the issue persists
    Contact management with:
    • Date and time
    • Nature of the disturbance
    • Room or studio concerned

We will handle this correctly, neutrally, and discreetly.

Respect for silent hours is a basic condition of shared living, not a suggestion.
It ensures everyone can study, work, and rest properly and  it is a basic condition for shared living and academic success.

Thank you for your cooperation, maturity and for contributing  in keeping this a comfortable place for everyone.
