HELP! There’s a spider in my room

DO NOT panic!

Spiders are very common, even in the city and inside the house! It’s most probably the normal house spider, although it looks big, it harmless and not dangerous. We let them be there as they catch other insects for us like mosquitos, mites, flies…

We do not have poisonous spiders in Belgium. Usually in winter they come inside our houses to escape the cold and in spring they move back outside.  Not sure where they enter, they just need the tiniest little crack or hole and they’ ll hide behind or under furniture, in small cracks or holes.

The best treatment if you want to remove is to take a glass and a thick paper, put the glass over the spider and slide paper under it and then put it outside through the window.

ATTENTION! Insect venom is not only unhealthy for you, but also for the birds that will afterwards eat spiders as they also have limited food in the winter 😉

Always remember the spider sees you as a giant and will most probably be more afraid from you then you from them, same as humans are more dangerous to the spider as the spider to you 😉 
Give the little creature a chance and put it outside xxx

9. The False Widow Spider ⚠️ – One of the most talked-about spiders in Belgium is the Steatoda nobilis (False Widow). Though its bite can cause mild discomfort, it’s far less dangerous than its cousin, the Black Widow.
10. The Biggest Spider 🏆 – The Dolomedes fimbriatus (Raft Spider) is one of Belgium’s largest spiders, growing up to 7 cm. It can walk on water and even catch small fish!
