๐ข NEWSFLASH FOR NEW TENANTS IN LEUVEN ๐ก
Dear tenant,
To avoid or reduce extra taxes on second residences in Leuven, it is important that you are properly registered at your new address.
Important distinction:
๐น Waiting Register: Your registration application has been initiated but is not yet fully completed, you are not registered.
๐น Foreigners’ Register: You are officially registered.
Because the city of Leuven cannot provide your landlord with any information due to privacy reasons, they require proof as confirmation (even if January 1st does NOT fall within the period of your lease!).
This prevents administrative hassle and unnecessary reminders.
Only the following documents are valid:
- Annex 33
- Annex 3septies
- Proof of registration in the Foreigners’ Register: the easiest method is via a RESIDENCE CERTIFICATE ย (ATTEST VAN WOONST).
๐ What do you need to do?
โก Request your FREE residence certificate (ATTEST VAN WOONST) online from the city of Leuven. https://www.leuven.be/attest-van-woonst
โก Provide this document to your landlord.
This ensures you are compliant and avoids unnecessary taxes! โ
Thank you for your cooperation!
