How You Can Still Verify That Our Rental Offer Is Reliable
Even when an in-person or live video viewing is not possible, there are many objective ways to verify that our studios, business activities and rental process are genuine, professional and trustworthy.
We strongly encourage students and parents to check the information below carefully.
1. Check Our Presence on Official Student Housing Platforms
Our studios are advertised on Kotwijs, the official student housing platform linked to KU Leuven.
Advertising on Kotwijs is not open to just anyone.
Landlords must comply with official registration and certification requirements before being accepted on the platform.
This already provides an important first verification that:
- the building exists,
- the rental activity is official,
- and the accommodation complies with required regulations.
Or you can contact the Housing department of KU Leuven to ask for our reference: (016) 32 44 00 Dinsdag, woensdag en vrijdag, 9 – 12.30 uur
2. Verify the Official Kotlabel
Our building has the official blue Kotlabel visible on the façade.
This label confirms compliance with:
- governmental housing quality standards,
- fire safety regulations,
- and student housing inspections.
You can often also verify this through:
- Google Maps street view,
- building photos,
- or during a physical visit if possible.
3. Consult Our Public Reviews
We encourage future tenants and parents to consult:
- our Google reviews, consult reviews on our Facebook and Google profiles:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/ShQAFBPx8MwRKxVk8 - Facebook reviews, https://www.facebook.com/ForRentLeuven/reviews
- and online presence on google maps, website: www.for-rent-leuven.com or booking platform https://studio-for-rent-leuven.com/
As a small family-managed property, reputation is extremely important to us.
Many of our tenants come through recommendations, returning families, or positive student experiences shared over multiple academic years.
4. Watch Videos of the Studios
We provide extensive studio videos through our YouTube channel. watch videos of our studios on our YouTube channel,
https://www.youtube.com/@ForRentLeuven
These videos often give a much more realistic and transparent impression than a short in-person visit because you can calmly review:
- room layout,
- furniture,
- equipment,
- bathroom,
- kitchenette,
- storage,
- natural light,
- and overall maintenance condition.
The videos also allow students abroad to compare different studios remotely with their parents.
5. Review the Rental Contract in Advance
We systematically provide our rental contract and house rules before signing.
This allows students and parents to:
- review all conditions calmly,
- understand what is included,
- verify pricing transparency,
- and avoid surprises later.
Our contract structure is based on and updated in line with the standard KU Leuven model rental agreement, adapted where necessary to the practical operation of our building.
If you have questions with the contract, we ask to send them by email so e can also repoly in written and you can keep the answer for future reference if necessary.
6. Verify Our Communication Style
We believe professional communication says a lot about a landlord.
We try to provide:
- structured information,
- clear explanations,
- realistic expectations,
- transparent pricing,
- and direct accessibility.
As a small family-managed property, communication is handled directly by ourselves rather than outsourced call centers or anonymous agencies.
This also means students can usually reach the actual people responsible for the building, maintenance and follow-up.
7. Verify the Address and Building Online
The building address can easily be verified online through:
- Google Maps,
- satellite view,
- street view,
- and surrounding neighborhood information.
This allows future tenants to verify:
- the location,
- nearby faculties,
- supermarkets,
- transportation,
- and the general environment.
8. Transparency Matters More Than Fancy Marketing
We prefer realistic and honest communication over overly polished marketing promises.
Student housing is not a hotel.
What matters most long-term is:
- correct maintenance,
- reliability,
- safety,
- responsiveness,
- fairness,
- and respectful communication.
That is also the reason why we prefer providing substantial information upfront.
Final Note
We fully understand that renting remotely requires trust.
That is why we always encourage students and parents to:
- verify information carefully,
- compare objectively,
- ask questions,
- and use the many public verification tools available today.
and contact us if there are any remaining questions or doubts.
