Moving Out: What to Do With Your Waste

When you move out of your studio, you are responsible for removing all your waste before you leave. Please do not leave rubbish bags, cardboard, food, bottles or other waste in the studio, hallway or common areas.

To avoid problems at the end of your stay, follow these steps:

1. Check the waste collection calendar

A few days before your departure, check when the next waste collection takes place.

Make sure you check this before your last day, especially if you are leaving before the next collection.

2. Plan ahead

If the collection date is after your departure, you must make your own arrangements.

For example:

• ask a friend or fellow student to put out your waste;
• take the waste with you;
• use the appropriate recycling or waste disposal facility.
• Recycling Centers 
• Recycling center admission cards

Do not simply leave the bags in the studio because the collection has already passed.

3. Empty your studio completely

Before handing back the keys, check:

• ☐ No rubbish bags
• ☐ No food or food waste
• ☐ Refrigerator completely empty
• ☐ No bottles or cans
• ☐ No cardboard or packaging
• ☐ No personal belongings or unwanted items
• ☐ No waste left on the balcony/terrace or in common areas

4. Do not leave waste in the building

Waste must never be left in the hallway, entrance, stairwell, laundry room or other common areas.

These areas are not temporary storage places for rubbish.

5. Check your studio one last time

Before you leave, take a few minutes to check the studio carefully.

Your studio must be handed back empty, clean and free of waste.

6. Important: waste left behind

Waste left behind after your departure will have to be removed by us.

The cost of removing and disposing of abandoned waste will be charged to the tenant. This includes the time and costs involved in collecting, transporting and disposing of the waste.

Please do not assume that someone else will take care of it.

Final check before you leave

STOP – CHECK – LEAVE

🗑️ Waste removed?
🧊 Fridge empty?
📦 Cardboard and packaging gone?
🧹 Studio completely empty and clean?
📅 Collection date checked?

If the answer to all five questions is YES, you are ready to leave.

Tip: Do not wait until the last day. Check the collection schedule several days before your departure and plan accordingly.
