If your shower pressure is very low or water is barely coming through after the water supply has been turned back on, the small filter inside the shower hose connector may be clogged with debris. Here’s how you can clean it:
- Turn off the water at the shower tap or mixer.
- Unscrew the shower hose
- Unscrew the hose from where it connects to the tap or wall outlet.
- You should be able to do this by hand. If it’s too tight, use a cloth and pliers gently to avoid damage.
- Remove the small filter
- Inside the connector (where the hose was screwed on), there is usually a small mesh filter or washer with a screen.
- Carefully pull it out using tweezers or a small tool.
- Rinse and clean the filter
- Rinse the filter under running water to remove any dirt or sediment.
- You can use an old toothbrush to gently scrub it.
- If there is mineral buildup, soak it in vinegar for 15–30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
- Reinsert the filter and screw the hose back on
- Make sure the filter is seated properly before reattaching the hose.
- Tighten it by hand—no need to overtighten.
- Turn the water back on and test the shower pressure.
