Brown water from my tap

Sometimes an intervention to the water system is required, like when replacing a tap, fixing a leak or renovation works.

For this often the main water needs to be shut off and restarted. Sometimes it can cause colored water coming from your tap after restarting the system. This is not something to worry, it will not do harm, it’s caused by some calcium residue that may have set off in the pipes and releases after the waterpressure comes back. It’s not dangerous and normal.

WHAT TO DO after a water shut off or when brown water comes from my tap?

Simply let the water from your tap flow until it is back clear.

Do you have a tap that is not fully operational after a main water shut off, contact your landlord so they can send somebopdy to look at it and clean the filter from your tap.
